GEORGE SHAW CASK BEERS
Common
As the name implies, the most numerous brew from the George Shaw range of beers. Common was the local name for a delicious, satisfying dark mild beer at 3.8 abv. It tastes very refreshing, full of a variety of flavours, hints of blackcurrant, a pleasant bouquet, thirst quenching and morish.
Folly
A brew from the company that took over George Shaws. Known locally as Folly.
It’s another of those beers with four hops and four malts. A wonderful mouthfeel, great nose, rich, fruity and morish. Giving way to a deep, long lingering aftertaste that deserves another pint of Folly.
miners ale
A typical early 20th century beer, brewed with brewing sugars. This beer was designed for manual workers to replenish fluids used in physical labour. With a deep set of flavours, it is thirst-quenching, imparts strength to the drinker, and only comes in at 3.8 abv.
New World Pale
The skeleton for this beer was found in the Pale Ale. This beer piles on the malt and hops to produce a strong new world set of tastes. Very rich, complex, and morish that belies its strength of 5.9 abv. Full of fruit, strong-tasting, that will leave a long lingering aftertaste, but so well balanced.
Pale Ale
This is a 4.3 abv modern refreshing beer with three hops and three malts, as usual, very well balanced, with a bite to it.
Very morish with a complex mouthfeel.
Premium
This brew was the Best Bitter produced by the Brewery. It comes in at 4.3 abv.
Our version is a composite brew with the main features incorporated. The brew has a rich background, with hints of fruit and a pleasant aftertaste of bitterness that lingers on the palate.
Spinners Gold
Now, this is a modern beer produced by our late Head Brewer, Aidan Grannell.
A simple 3.8 abv beer, using Citra hops only. Designed to be dry, complex, fresh on the palate, and extremely well-balanced. So refreshing, ideal for those warm days when you want something to quench your thirst.
TenPenny
The skeleton brew of George Shaw.
This recipe is the backbone of every George Shaw brew. This version of Tenpenny comes in at 4.3 abv and is dark, rich and full of a variety of flavours. Excellent on the nose, complex flavours,
a fruity base with a hint of caramel, leaving an ultimate mouthfeel that
lingers long after the drink.
